The concept of Habitat Red as a world has been with me since at least 2000. I even created a homemade, one-shot comic book at that time with the same title. Although the stories of this world have evolved since then, the world as a vehicle for stories was constant in my head. Now that I am more well read and wiser with the passing of time and wrinkles of experience, I decided in 2016 to return to this world and begin to seriously, dare I say professionally, flesh out, structure and publish my first Habitat Red novel.
Now that the novel is in-progress, I want to also begin sharing the journey here on a regular basis. Perhaps others will glean something from my reflection that will help them. Perhaps this will just be something I can fondly look back upon when my first novel is completed and out there for the world to consume and pick apart.
When I think of Habitat Red, I think of all the creative endeavors that could come out of it - books, art, video, games or even music. I haven't started this journey with any self-imposed limitations on what it could be and so I feel Habitat Red Media is generic enough to serve the purpose of representing my work as a potential business. I look forward to discovering what the road ahead has in store for me and whatever this new venture becomes.
